Day 6

 Day 6:

Today was our fourth and final eye clinic and it was our busiest day yet. We served 179 people and gave out 221 pairs of eyeglasses. In total for the week, we served 530 people and gave out 679 pairs of glasses. 

Since it was the last clinic, we also had to say goodbye to our interpreters. It’s amazing how close of a relationship you can develop in such a short time. A few tears were shed but we are so grateful for the help of these kids. 

So many patrons asked when we would be back as they had family members who need glasses but couldn’t make it this week. It’s hard to put into words how amazing the Belize people have been. They are gracious, welcoming, appreciative, patient and kind. Even in the extreme heat, they smile, laugh, and say thank you after waiting for hours in line. They have taught us all so much and we hope to return one day soon.
